At this point in my life I am very interested in the study of constitutional law. I believe that the constitution is the instrument by which powers of the state are created and regulated, the rights of the people are enshrined and protected, the checks and balance between the branches of government are enforced. While I want to make changes in India's legal system in areas such as human rights, environmental policy, workers protection, family law, and business law, I know I need to have a good basis in constitutional law to be able to make all these.

I know that law school will be difficult. However, I believe that as a disciplined and diligent student who has worked to help provide for my own education, I know I will be able to overcome difficulties. I believe that my life experiences and education path have prepared well for the tough challenge of law school. I have known since I was a teenager that education is the key for the long-term success of a person and have always strived to work to help provide for funding of my education. During the course of my work for an insurance company, I was able to gain the opportunity to go back to visit my family in India. When I got back, after earning enough money, I enrolled in a community college in a business course. I graduated with honors while working full time to continue supporting my studies. I then transferred to Hofstra University where I enrolled in business administration. I started in accounting and then added finance major subjects to take advantage of my work background in the financial services.
At Hofstra, I got involved in various activities to improve my leadership and communication skills. This year, I was part of the presidential debate operation team. I worked as an assistant for the chairman of the Nassau County Independence Office. I also started a new business while in college to support myself and continue gaining experience. Once I become a lawyer I plan on gaining experience in the U.S. before moving to India. As a lawyer in India, I would like to work for the government as a public attorney and hopefully someday become a judge. For now however, my priority is to get into a reputable law school where I could learn to be a good and effective lawyer.
